Observations Upon Recent Novelties
MacDuff's Kananaskis Explorer
A woodland shaving soap with a good lather and a scent that remains controlled.
MacDuff’s Soap Company makes shaving soap in Edmonton. The name comes from the proprietor’s dog, which is a perfectly adequate history for a soap company. Kananaskis Explorer takes its name from Kananaskis Country west of Calgary.
The scent opens with pine and dry juniper. It avoids the medicinal edge that makes some forest scents difficult to wear. A softer note follows, closer to vanilla and warm timber. The result is recognisably woodland without becoming severe.
The lather forms readily and gives the razor enough cushion and slip. The scent remains present during the shave without filling the room. Both are useful qualities.
I would buy it again. My assistant has already done so, which rendered the question somewhat administrative.
